WordPress Tutorials – Using Tags

Tags provide a useful way to group related posts together and to quickly tell readers what a post is about. Tags also make it easier for people to find your content because it creates keywords that better link related content together.

Tags are similar to categories, but they’re more specific. Tags are also completely optional.

To add tags, navigate to the tag entry but usually located directly below the Categories box in the post or page editor. Type the specific keywords you would like associated with the content here.

You can add tags one at a time by clicking the Add button or hitting the Enter and Return keys on your keyboard after typing each tag. You can also add multiple tags at a time by separating them with a comma as you type.

When you’re finished, simply click Update or Publish on the post editor and the new revisions will take effect in your site right away. Depending on the theme and the widgets you have activated, tags can be displayed at the top or the bottom of posts on the individual post view or in the sidebar of your site. You can also assign multiple tags per post.
