Using featured images can provide artistic value to your website and place specific emphasis on your content. Best of all, it’s very easy to set a featured image.
To get started, visit the right-hand side of the post editor near the bottom where it says Featured Image and click the button that says Choose a Featured Image. Clicking this button will open up a familiar dialog box which you can use to upload content to your website. You can either upload a new image from your computer or choose an existing image from your media library to act as a featured image.
Let’s visit the media library and we’re going to select one of these photos to act as our featured image. Let’s use this picture of a sunset. When you click the image, WordPress tells you that it’s selected by placing a checkmark in the upper right-hand corner of the thumbnail. Over on the right-hand side you can see details about the image. And to set the featured image, you’ll simply click Update Featured Image in the bottom right-hand corner.
You’ll be able to visually see that there is a featured image in your content editor from this point on. You can click Preview Changes to preview your changes before you make it live on the web or click Update or Publish to publish your changes.
